Congratulations to Laurie, who has been nominated by her amazing host family (also nominated for the Host Family of the year award)!
These pictures exemplify Laurie’s loving spirit, zest for life, and the heart of an au pair. She has come from France to be part of an American family with three children who are grateful to have had her in their lives. The au pair program has enriched many lives and allowed Laurie a chance to visit many states in the US, including Vermont, California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Washington. Laurie improved her English while living and working with an American family and celebrated American culture like Thanksgiving and Halloween. Laurie attended classes at the Colorado School of English and The University of Denver and developed amazing friendships with many other au pairs from other countries. As her LCC, I appreciated her participation in the monthly au pair meetings where new au pairs look forward to meeting other au pairs to build community and support during their journey. The au pair meetings included a Denver Nuggets basketball game, a corn maze trip and pumpkin carving, karaoke, Christmas lights, and Santa Claus to name a few events.
Laurie will soon return to France with amazing memories of magnificent landscapes and celebrated holidays, and daily life with a family that welcomed her into their home and lives for the past year and nine months to care for and love their children while also loving and supporting her. Laurie will carry in her heart and memory part of the American culture. The au pair program is more than just childcare!
