Jennifer Morrow, a Childcare Consultant. I help families determine if welcoming an au pair into their home and heart is the best childcare solution for them.
It is essential to find childcare that will work best with your family’s lifestyle, budget, and schedule. Our au pair childcare and cultural exchange program offers your family – flexible, live-in childcare with an international perspective. Your au pair lives with you as a member of your family, and your children benefit from personalized and consistent care in the comfort of your own home.
The average cost per month is $1630 for the family regardless of the number of children. This number includes the program fee, minimum au pair weekly stipend, international airfare, recruitment and screening, training school, matching services, orientation, CPR and first aid certification, background checks, round-trip international airfare, basic travel medical insurance and year-long support from your local childcare consultant.
A host family will pay an average of $400/week, per family while receiving personalized care in the comfort of their home. Many families also find that having flexibility is huge.
Cultural Care conducted a study of 2500 working parents who had used more than one form of childcare. The survey asked parents about their previous form of childcare and how their current childcare choice of a live-in au pair or nanny had affected their work-life balance.
Most working parents agree that work-life balance has a lot to do with time and flexibility.
- More than two-thirds of the au pair host families surveyed found that having live-in childcare allowed for more quality time with their children and more time with their spouse. Sixty-two percent also found they had more time for themselves to do things like exercise and volunteer.
- Flexibility is very important to families, and live-in childcare provides parents with more options for scheduling and last-minute coverage.
- More than two-thirds of parents indicated that their childcare choice allowed them to be more focused and productive at work, and 77 percent said they were less stressed about work as a result of switching to live-in childcare.
- Working parents report that transportation to after-school activities, homework help, and meal preparation was all part of their au pair’s responsibilities and made for more balanced evenings. 74% of parents surveyed agreed that the coming home/dinner time routine is easier with the help of an au pair.
