Our Au Pair Language and Culture classes are designed specifically to meet the J-1 Educational Requirements for Au Pairs in the United States.
We are offering 3 courses this Fall Quarter. Each course comprises 36 total hours of instruction and activities.

REAL WORLD COMMUNICATION: GRAMMAR AND VOCABULARY BUILDING
In this course, you will learn to communicate clearly and effectively in English through the use of authentic sources, such as magazines, blogs, and podcasts. You will analyze, review, and practice Advanced grammar structures, as well as a variety of vocabulary. Grow your confidence with written and spoken communication by engaging in individual and group activities integrating writing, reading, listening, and speaking. This course focuses on creating content for a student-created blog showcasing your abilities to use language accurately and authentically.
- Class Dates: October 9 – November 15, 2018 (6 weeks)

STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS: GAINING ADMISSION TO UNIVERSITY
This course focuses on helping you to navigate academic systems to achieve your goal of attending university. The course will cover test preparation strategies, program discovery (both in the US and other countries), the application process (including essay writing and applying for scholarships), and goal-setting with a focus on choosing the right path for your own success. At the end of the course, you will demonstrate your knowledge by writing and editing a personal statement that can be used for a future application to a university of your choice.

LOOKING THROUGH THE LENS: COLORADO PHOTOGRAPHY
In this course, you will explore Colorado culture through the lens of your smartphone. Each week, you will visit special sites around the Denver area as you learn more about the history and culture of one of the top-ranked cities in the country. You will discover tricks and tips for capturing striking images that tell a story while also writing short narratives to accompany your images. Your final project will conclude with a digital portfolio that shows not only your artistic eye, but also what you have learned about Colorado culture.
