Castle Rock and Nearby Trail Systems

Summer is here. We live in a beautiful state. Be sure to get outside and take advantage of what Colorado has to offer. You don’t have to go far to find yourself surrounded by beautiful and breathtaking views. I’ve listed four nearby parks that are within an hour drive or less. You can find a variety of activities under each link. You’ll find trail difficulty ratings so that you can plan accordingly. When hiking with your host children, be sure to take plenty of water, sunscreen, snacks, band aides and comfortable walking shoes.

To make it more fun, you can take a listening walk. Listen for sounds. You’ll be amazed at how many sounds you’ll hear. Take a paper bag with you, and collect treasure along your walk, or make it a scavenger hunt and look for specific items. You’ll be amazed at how much further you’ll be able to go. Sing songs while walking or practice whistling like a bird. Take crayons and paper and draw pictures of what you see to capture your adventure and show mom and dad, or create texture rubbings with the crayons and the leaves and rocks that you find.
